Privacy policy

SteelX Rebar is a brand of McClay Industries Pty Ltd (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal information we collect through steelxrebar.com.au, why, and how we look after it, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.

What we collect

When you send the project analysis form, we collect your name, company, email address and phone number, your role, your project details, and any drawings or files you attach.

While you fill in the form, what you type is saved as you go, including if you don’t press Send. This lets us follow up an enquiry that was cut off.

When you visit the site, we record:

• your IP address, and the approximate location (city, state and country) and internet provider worked out from it;
• the pages you visit and how long you spend on each;
• the website, search engine or campaign link that brought you here;
• your type of device, browser and screen width.

We keep a random identifier in your browser’s storage so we can tell a return visit from a new one. We don’t use advertising cookies or share visit information with advertising networks.

Why we collect it

• To answer your enquiry and prepare your project analysis.
• To follow up an enquiry you started but didn’t send.
• To understand how the site is used, so we can improve it.
• To protect the site from spam and misuse.

Who we share it with

We use service providers to run the site: Railway (hosting and database, with servers in Singapore), Zoho ZeptoMail (sending emails) and ipwho.is (working out approximate location from IP addresses). Some of these providers store information outside Australia, including in Singapore and the United States. They handle it only to provide their service to us. We don’t sell personal information.

How long we keep it

• Partly completed forms are deleted after 30 days.
• IP addresses are deleted after 90 days. The approximate location stays with the visit record.
• Enquiries and drawings you send are kept while we need them for your project and our business records.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing info@steelxrebar.com.au or calling 1300 443 549. If you have a privacy complaint, contact us the same way and we’ll respond within 30 days. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
